Christmas Eve

We have been fortunate to have parties and get togethers to go to this holiday season. The ugly Christmas sweater was a lot of fun. We couldn't find one for Hans, apparently there is a large number of these types of parties. He ended up dressing in his ugly thick redneck vest.
A larger percentage of them have been 'girls only'. Hans laughs at all the 'clubs' that have have monthly 'meetings' -- bunco, supper club, etc. I cherish my girlfriends and know that life can be mighty boring (and more difficult) without them. Being overly sentimental this year, I even made the 'girls' at an annual Christmas dinner .. write out adjectives to describe everyone. So, each gal took home a note with 8 or more words on it describing what their friends loved about them.

On Christmas Eve, we met the Bollingers (Mickie and John) and Hacketts (Ann and James) out at Wild Wings for a late lunch. They go every year as a tradition. We have gone once or twice in the past and enjoyed it. We got there before everyone else, settled into the long table in the back (I think I have sat there about 30 times over the last 14 years of living in Charleston). The four of us were nestled together and the boys were happily coloring. We ordered some chips and spinach dip. Beckman dove in and had a chip. Unfortunately, one got stuck in his throat and he threw up all over the place. Two seconds later he was fine. Lukas has the wonderful gag reflex like Hans, so we almost had a huge mess. In trying to keep everything flowing, we changed his shirt, cleaned up the mess and continued on.

Everyone arrived, and we had lunch and fun. The boys were about done after about an hour and we were actually there about 2 1/2 hours. So, the last hour took a bit of patience and walking around outside etc. We got home about 5pm and all three boys fell asleep while I ran up to Walmart for a few items (along with 500 other people doing the mad rush to the 6pm closing time). We headed over to the Burgers (Amy and Brian and their 3) for some oysters and holiday fare. The boys love going over there and make themselves right at home. The oysters were yummy and the company even better! I had to rein in the troops about 7:30pm because Beckman was painfully tired and we still had some preparing for Santa to do. We got home, put the cookies - carrots - milk out and then spread the reindeer food out. Lukas had a grand time putting out the reindeer food. I don't remember doing that when I was young (carrots only). Maybe it's a Southern thing?

Lukas and Collin .. Lukas adores him

Our well behaved children .. .NOT!

There was a huge rainbow on our way home from lunch.

Reindeer food.. yes, it was that warm -- no shoes, no long sleeves

Amy was sweet enough to give Beckman this ride on Thomas. Her son doesn't seem to play with it much. Beckman is obsessed with it. He slept with it that night... yes, that big huge Thomas...and his McQueen car.
