Last weekend's family day...

So, last weekend was the Southeastern Wildlife Expo here in town. We decided that we were going to map out a full day with the kids. We started by going downtown, where they had a petting zoo, dog demos, birds of prey demos, various expos, jump castles etc. Lukas loved the petting zoo, especially the monkeys. He watched them for over 30 minutes. We finally had to take him out, because Beckman aka WildMan, was EVERYWHERE. We then let Lukas go in the jump castle, of which he got a black eye from who knows where or what. After about 90 minutes, we headed over to the kids museum. They love it and it was wide open. There were maybe three other families in the whole place. After about an hour, we went and got some subs. Then, we headed to the Dog Park. They were having a Dock Dogs Contest (yep, you guessed it..dogs running and jumping off of a dock) and all sorts of food/music etc. It was on the water at a park. We thought this would be the best part of the day....kids would love it etc. But, no...they could care less. The lil one was so exhausted that he fell asleep. There were billions of every type of dog you can imagine. The dogs waiting in line to jump off the dock they had built, were hysterical. They were like little kids waiting in line at an ice cream truck. Just wild for it! It was pretty cute stuff. So... we headed home abut 4pm with two very exhausted kids. We'll do it again next year, just maybe not for 6 hours straight.
