Friends

Our good friends, Melanie and Ashley, come to town for a visit every year. We met them about eight years ago. They moved a few years back - to Little Rock, Arkansas. We miss them terribly. Their girls, Sophie (8) and Emma (3) are sweethearts. Lukas has a CRAZY crush on Sophie. He literally is attached to her hip when she is around. He was the same way last year. He is constantly hugging her, giving her kisses on the cheek and telling her that he loves her. We did all sorts of fun stuff during the two week visit, including plently of water activities (of course).

Lukas experienced his first hibachi dinner (for Sophie's 8th Birthday). He loved the 'clear' soup and veggies the best. When he would get a little freaked out by the chef's fire tricks, he would hold to Sophie. She is so sweet to him.

We didn't get enough pictures this trip. We waited til the last night to get a group pic and it just didn't happen. When they were ready to go, Lukas cried and cried. You would of had to be a cold stone not to shed a tear at that scene. Just about everyday since they left, he asks to go to Sophie's house. Too young to understand. I do feel bad for him... he knows all these people he loves, leave. The way I look at it is that it's better to have those relationships - in some form, even for a week or two a year - then not at all. He will remember her .. until next year. Hopefully, they never stop visiting!
